SoI just lost my home to foreclosure yesterday. It was a tough battle but in the end I lost. It is going to be difficult for my family to transition to live in something smaller then at least a house. I was wandering, is it possible to rent a house after foreclosure? Would this be easier to do then renting from a regular apartment? Because do regular homeowners run your credit like apartment managers do? Do they even have to legally know that you've been through foreclosure or bankruptcy or have horrible credit?

Welcome to the forum Bob and I'm very sorry to hear you ended up losing your home to foreclosure. However, this does not mean you will not be able to find a nice comfortable rental (regardless of your credit) and we have many others here that were able to do so. Personally I have not endured foreclosure, but have experienced other financial problems which have caused my credit score to decrease and have been able to find a rental and avoid having to pass a credit check. It will be difficult if you go through a major property management company as they usually always have very strict credit requirements. But smaller property management companies and landlords seem very willing to rent to almost anyone as long as you have sufficient income and as the saying goes, money does talk! If you can put down first and last month's payment or pay a larger security deposit, this could be all you need to find a rental that would be suffice.

Some landlords may take you more seriously if you offer a higher-than-requested deposit. Apply for a home right before, or shortly after, your foreclosure occurs. Since it takes some time for your foreclosure to show up on your credit report
