My health insurance company refused to pay the bills associated with a medical emergency. After two appeals to the insurance company, I am left with approximately $100,000 in medical debt. The two hospitals have offered a 60% reduction in the bills by changing them to the "self-pay" prices and the individual doctors offered between no discount and 30%. This still leaves me owing $40,000 to eight different entities that they are going to send to a collection agency. I have heard things like I can send them each $10 a month and there is nothing they can do about it, but I thought I would ask the experts on what they have seen or done. Thank you!
